The egg, the stone, and the land

During the prehistoric period, the Siraya, the Taiwanese indigenous people, settled here in Mattauw and were later ruled by the Dutch Republic and Japan; after World War II, the power of the people and the governments were still struggling, as they are now. However, the land generously provides for our needs while at the same time witnessing all that happens to her. By shifting position, the audience may experience the architecture from both inside and outside, contemplating the silent discourse of the land, of its past and now, between the people and the authorities, and our relationships with the land. For me, I will always stand with the land.

總爺藝文中心．廠長宿舍
從史前西拉雅族人在麻豆的聚落、荷治、日治時代，到戰後；在威權與人民的拉扯與衝撞，土地安靜的給出所有。廠長宿舍這樣的日式建築之於我是熟悉又疏離的，在日四年半我在這樣的空間工作與生活；「縁側」是日本建築裡一個把內與外和緩的接上的空間，作為眺望、與人互動、晾製干物等多重利用。藉由曾有威權象徵「廠長宿舍」的視角，換位從縁側由內向外觀看，今與昔、雞蛋與高牆、土地與人的多重關係，透過作品的詮釋，把話語權交給這片土地。
