Ceramics are the main materials that I use to express myself. Yet not only clay and glaze, but foraging nature's resources and using fiber are also my art practices. Nature fascinates me and inspires me all the time. Many of my happiest childhood memories were from the hill back home. Clay, stones (glaze elements), nature materials—they are like my playmates. By making and firing them, they may become anything—the derivation of mind.
My work is a reflection of nature, from a personal to a social level. Over the years, I have realized more about how nature, to me, is a symbol of home and a metaphor for the mind and psyche, where one can always reach and dwell, whether it be a physical or a mental one. The memories of the hill and the mountain village have become my own archetype of home—where is one from and to be—which leads to the notion of identity from diverse perspectives.
